Pittsburgh’s Story of a Reinvented Economy, Retold by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

PRABlogFreeEnterprise v2From an industrial past and glory days as steelmaker to the world, Pittsburgh has reinvented itself – a transformation that includes capitalizing on knowledge and technology as key economic engines.  Pittsburgh’s great American comeback story continues to capture attention, most recently the attention of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Free Enterprise publication. The online, two-part series highlights how, in the wake of the steel industry’s devastating decline, strategic decisions were made to leverage two of Pittsburgh’s greatest assets – its leading universities and regional leadership – to reposition the region for economic transformation.

It’s a story worth repeating – especially because of the insight Pittsburgh can offer other cities and regions – and it’s noteworthy that it’s being retold by an organization that values how businesses of all sizes and sectors, and the people who  run them, help to shape and grow the economy.

Read Part 1: “Pittsburgh’s Reinvention from Steel City to Tech Hub” and Part 2 “The Innovation Ecosystem Built on Pittsburgh’s Steel Skeleton” of the Pittsburgh story as told by the U.S. Chamber.
