PhilipsDutch-owned Philips Respironics is building a new 260,000-square-foot distribution center in East Huntington Township at the Westmoreland Distribution Park. The Center is expected to be one of the largest industrial developments in southwestern Pennsylvania this year. Construction on the new facility – led by developer Exel Inc., a division of logistics firm DHL – began in February and is expected to be completed during the second half of the year.

Philips Respironics is one of the Pittsburgh region’s largest foreign-owned firms (in terms of employment). The company operates a regional headquarters in Murrysville employing approximately 1,400 local people.

According to Lou Oliva, executive managing director of the Pittsburgh office of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank – in a recent Pittsburgh Business Times article – this is a building project of a size that happens perhaps once every two years in the region.
